How It Works
In the life energy of Reiki. the person who is a Reiki healer has had her body's energy channels opened and cleared by the Reiki atunements. The process of attunement is unique to the Reiki form of energy healing.

A Healing Session
In a healing session, the recipient is in a comfortable position, lying or sitting. The recipient's energy field is first scanned from head to toe to check for imbalances. The healer's hands are then placed in positions on or near the recipient's head, neck, chest, abdomen, hips, elbows, knees, back, and feet for the channeling of energy. To integrate and complete the healing, the recipient's energy field is grounded through the feet.

Side Effects
Recipients may feel lightheaded at the completion of a session for as loong as 30 minutes. A pleasant and enjoyable feeling of relaxatoin can last up to three days. Some people begin a physical detoxification after a healing session. This is a sign that the body's healing processes are working.

Karuna Reiki
Karuna is a Sanskrit word and is used in Hinduism and Buddhism. It is translated to mean any action that is taken to diminish the suffering of others, or as "compassionate action." Karuna Reiki is often represented by the ancient Goddess of compassion, Kuan Yin. As you develop Karuna in yourself, you are not only helping others, but you also become more receptive to the Karuna that is being sent by all enlightened beings. Thus your healing is quickened as well.

It is the All-Consciousness called Rei that guides the life energy of Ki in the practice of Reiki.

In a Reiki session with Cathleen, both the yang strength and focused power of Usui Reiki and the yin of gentle, compassionate Karuna Reiki are experienced.

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing.
It was rediscoverd by Mikas Usui in the early 1900's.
Reiki is administered by "laying on hands".
The word "Reiki" comes from two Japanese word- Rei and Ki.
"Rei" means universal, higher knowledge
or spritual consciousness.
"Ki" means life force energy, vital force, or universal life force.
When your life energy is low or there is a restriction in its flow,
you are more vulnerable to illness.
